Green-Cheek
    Conures

Highly intelligent and playful, these babies make great companions.  They are often referred to as "having a big personality in a small  body".  Green Cheeks are a small parrot in the genus Pyrrhura. These small conures only reach about 10 in length.  Their size isn't the only thing smaller than their larger cousins, the Suns and Jendays, their noise level is as well, which makes them a perfect companion for apartment dwellers.

They originate in the forests of South America, more specifically, the west-central and southern Mato Grosso, Brazil, through northern and eastern Bolivia to northwestern Argentina.

Green Cheeks are very sweet natured. They are playful and can spend hours being petted or snuggling with their owners.  Yet, with sufficient toys, they can entertain themselves while their "person" is away.  Once you are home, they do need their loving and snuggling time.  To try to get your attention they may first dance around on their perch.  Then they may try hanging upside down, they can be very comical.  I have even seen the hanging upside down routine done and it appears that they are dancing on the ceiling. (Of their cage, of course!)

We currently have 3 babies that are being hand-fed.  They will all soon be weaned.
